A former office building attached to a banking outlet in Jedburgh could soon become a home sweet home.
The ground floor Bank of Scotland branch located at 40 High Street closed on May 20, 2024.
The bank was subsequently re-purposed, with a new Banking Hub, operated by the Post Office and providing services for multiple banks, opening in the same location by November 2024.
Now an application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council to convert the larger Bank House office building adjoining the new banking hub into a private dwelling.
The property is category B-listed and dates back to circa 1760.
A report with the application, from Selkirk-based RM Architecture, states: “The property has been occupied until recently and the building fabric is in good general order with many of the original period external and internal features intact and in good decorative order.
“The building has a long residential history up until the early 1990’s, where it was subject to a change of use to create a single occupancy office premises.
“The development proposal is to convert the office premises back to a private residential dwelling.
“The applicant is proposing no changes to the exterior of the building and it is a simple re-allocation of the existing office suites to public rooms and bedrooms.”
