Match report by Gregor Bruce, of Bonnyrigg Rose FC
The Rose entertained Clyde FC at NDP and came out on top with a well deserved 2-1 victory.
Calum Elliot made no changes from Tuesday’s win against Stranraer, with a promising result to build on.
Rose made a positive start, with Cammy Ross scoring an unlikely goal early on—finding the net with a slide tackle after being dispossessed in the Clyde box—giving Rose the lead in the 6th minute.
Neil Martyniuk continued his scoring form, coolly slotting a penalty into the bottom left-hand corner, sending Robbie Hemfrey the wrong way. Rose went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Clyde applied pressure early in the second half, forcing Rose to defend deeper in their own half. Paddy Martin made an excellent save in the 64th minute from Liam Scullion’s free kick.
Clyde got a goal back from Martin Rennie with 10 minutes to go but “The Rose” held on to claim the three points for the second game in 4 days.
For their next match Bonnyrigg visit Borough Briggs on Tuesday night to face Elgin City.
