ScotRail has donated a range of digital devices to Street Soccer Scotland to support the charity’s work helping people build confidence, access support, and move towards employment and stable housing.

The train operator has provided 10 laptops and 20 iPads to the charity, which will be used by both staff and service users across Street Soccer Scotland’s programmes. ScotRail received funds from recycled old tech kit, which was then used to buy and donate the new devices.

The charity’s staff will use the devices while working in communities and at programme locations across the country to help participants access vital services. This includes benefit applications, accessing support organisations, and searching for housing and employment opportunities.

Street Soccer Scotland uses football-inspired programmes to empower people who have experienced homelessness, social isolation, or other challenges. The donated technology will also help participants develop digital confidence and access online learning and training resources.

The donation forms part of ScotRail’s ongoing commitment to communities across Scotland and helping organisations create positive opportunities for people.

Paul McKay, ScotRail Communications Director, said:

“Street Soccer Scotland does incredible work supporting people to build confidence, develop new skills, and move towards positive futures.

“We’re really pleased to donate this equipment to their teams and the people they work with across Scotland.

“Having access to digital technology can make a real difference when it comes to connecting people with services, training opportunities, and employment.

“We’re proud to support organisations like Street Soccer Scotland that are making a positive impact in communities across the country.”

David Duke MBE, Founder and CEO of Street Soccer Scotland, said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to ScotRail for this generous donation. These laptops and iPads will make a real difference to the people we support across Scotland.

“Digital access is essential when it comes to applying for jobs, finding housing, accessing benefits, and connecting with support services. This equipment will help our staff work more effectively in communities, while also giving participants the opportunity to build confidence with technology and access online learning.

“Partnerships like this help us create more opportunities for people to move forward in their lives, and we’re delighted to be working with ScotRail to support that mission.”
