Doorstep Crime

Operation Monarda has been launched today at the Citizens Advice Bureau in Dalkeith.

Centre Manager Julie Podet welcomed local and national partners who are all involved in tackling doorstep crime, including Citizens Advice Scotland, Trading Standards and our own Police Scotland Safer Communities team.

The campaign will run across Scotland from the 21st May to the 3rd June with a series of public events being held at key locations such as banks, garden centres and supermarkets, as well as sessions giving advice to partner organisations and their clients such as care providers, groups that support those with dementia, and Citizens Advice Scotland.

Police operational work such as victim visits and warrants will also be carried out during this period, and a series of videos will be running on social media with victims telling their real-life stories.

Anyone can be a victim of a bogus caller or rogue trader – so don’t let your doorstep be their marketplace.
