The Midlothian Council have changed school transport arrangements due to planned road resurfacing works taking place at Powdermill/Station Road, Gorebridge, from Monday 23 February to Friday 27 February.

Urging pupils to allow extra time for their journey in case of delays, the council announced that the roadworks will affect bus services to and from Newbattle High School and St David’s High School.

For travel to Newbattle High School, bus service 502, 505 and 508 will be affected.

For travel on bus 505, the service will not be able to stop at Powdermill Brae during the roadworks period so pupils will need to board the bus at the stop prior, which is Birkenside Terminus and leaves at 08:10am.

For bus 505 and 508 there will be no changes to stops but both routes will divert along Vogrie Road and turn left to begin the normal route.

Travel to St David’s High School will see bus 307 and 308 affected.

For service 308, pupils who usually board at Main Street will now have to catch the bus from the Leisure Centre stop. The bus will also divert down A7 after Birkenside then make its way up Aspen Drive, turn right, up Hunterfield Road and turn at Gore Avenue, to then proceed with the rest of the route.

There will be no change to stops for bus 307, but it will divert along Vogrie Road and turn left to begin its normal route.

See below amended times for route for the time changes.

– North Middleton – 07:50am
– Birkenside Terminus -07:55am
– Leisure Centre – 08:07am
– Arniston Engine – 08:10am
– St Andrews Primary School-08:12am

The council have explained that bus operators have been fully consulted regarding these temporary changes, and all adjustments will be in place for the duration of the roadworks.
