Temporary three-way traffic lights will be in operation where the A701 Moorfoot View meets the B7006 between Bilston and Roslin.

Scottish Water are starting work on a busy commuter route through the village of Bilston in Midlothian.

From Monday 6 April 2026, temporary three-way traffic lights will be in operation where the A701 Moorfoot View meets the B7006 between Bilston and Roslin.

This is to allow work to be carried out on the sewer network running beneath the carriageway.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said:

“We have timed the work to begin at the start of the school holiday to minimise the initial disruption for road users.

“Nevertheless this is an important commuter route into Edinburgh and we recognise it will inevitably cause some delays so we ask people to allow extra time.

“We will work as quickly as conditions and safety allow to finish as soon as possible and would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding.”

The temporary traffic lights are expected to be in place for up to seven weeks.
