The self-proclaimed ‘Greatest Magic Show’ has returned to the Fringe for the 5th year running, providing impressive, mind-blowing magic tailored towards children.
The Greatest Magic Show, performed everyday between 1:10pm and 2:10pm at Assembly George Square Gardens Palais du Variete, is what you would expect from a high-quailty, award-winning childrens show.
Despite being tailored towards children, the performance provides an entertaining hour to all members of the family. The level of ‘magic’ being performed was top-tier, being tricks that left the entire circus tent venue shocked.
Straight from the beginning, with the Ring-man Magnus Danger Magnus introducing the show, the crowd engagement was excellent, making sure every child in the room was involved. Bringing around six children onto the stage throughout the whole performance, the magic tricks performed didn’t only shock the children in the room but also all the adults.
After the Ring-man opened the show, magicians Sam Hume and Justin Williams walked onto the stage, bouncing off each other with great chemistry and bringing a strong sense of child comedy to the magic show.
The tricks varied, covering a wide-variety from slight of hand to bigger illusions, with only one trick not involving a child from the audience and being purely comedy based. Throughout the show the audience was asked to hold up plastic wands that were provided when entering the show, allowing all the children to get involved with the tricks, not just the children asked to come up on stage.
Every child who went up on stage was gifted with a magic goodie bag filled with beginner magic tricks. This was a nice touch that the children thoroughly enjoyed.
Prior to Sam and Justin entering the stage, the Ring-man told the crowd that he searched high and low for a great magic show and couldnt find one so made one himself. It is safe to say that he has been successful, creating one of the most engaging and impressive magic shows at this year’s Fringe.
This show is not only for kids, they will love it and be engaged throughout but the quality of the magic tricks on display will have all the adults amazed and puzzled.
