The Glencorse Centre are hosting ‘Pickleball for All’ sessions throughout the summer, giving everyone a chance to learn and play the world’s fastest growing sport, Pickleball.
Hosting 3 events, 24th and 31st of July and the 14th of August, the charity-run community centre in Penicuik is hosting the event to teach and give people the opportunity to play the popular sport.
Running from 12:30 to 2:30, the Pickleball event allows people of all skill levels a chance to play the sport in a mix of friendly matches with The Glencorse Centre stating that the event is perfect for everyone.
Pickleball is currently the fastest growing sport, gaining large popularity worldwide. The sport is a racket or paddle sport where two or four players use smooth faced paddles to hit a plastic ball over a 34-inch net, similar in ways to tennis. The sport can be played both inside and outside. It is a mixed-sex sport, offering separate singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches.
With the paddle sport rising in popularity, at the beginning of last year 40 people went along to the Lasswade Centre for free family pickleball alongside a waiting list to join Ageing Well games that gave people 50 and over an opportunity to play the sport.
The Glencorse Centre is offering a chance for both experienced and beginner players to play friendly summer matches in the hopes that people new to the sport will learn new skills during the event.
The event’s price starts from £4 and is available to book via Eventbrite. With availability going fast, ‘Pickleball for All’ allows all ages and sporting abilities to play some friendly rallies of the worlds fastest growing sport.
