Owen Thompson MP is leading a drive to bring free government support to more local firms in Midlothian – to help them take advantage of export opportunities and to tap into demand for Scottish and UK products from overseas.
Mr Thompson is inviting local businesses to sign up for the webinar he is co-hosting with East Lothian MP Kenny MacAskill, on exporting for businesses in the regions, as part of the Parliamentary Export Programme.
Partnering with the Department for International Trade and Scottish Development International, the first of three tailored events for Midlothian and East Lothian takes place on Thursday March 4th, from 3pm to 4pm. To find out more and to sign up CLICK HERE.
The aim is to help businesses to find out how they can start or grow international sales and get free government support to do it.
Mr Thompson said:
“To say this is a challenging time for businesses is an understatement. As the local MP, helping Midlothian based businesses to survive and then recover from the pandemic is one of my top priorities.
“That’s why I’m delighted to be hosting events that give businesses in my constituency access to information, advice and finance to sell internationally.
“I’m determined to ensure that our area does not get left behind and whatever services are available are provided here to help us get back on our feet after Covid-19.
“The events I’m organising along with East Lothian MP Kenny MacAskill are free and all businesses have to do is register on the link below. Experts and experienced exporters will be online to provide free advice including on government supported working capital and the practicalities of post-Brexit trade.”
Whether a business is new to exporting, has exported in the past or is a current exporter, participating in the programme will equip them with the support and tools they need to begin or continue their exporting journey.
Owen Thompson MP is a is a founding member of the Parliamentary Export Programme where selected cross-party MPs organise and chair virtual meetings with experts from business and government.
