Next school year there will be two additional teacher in-service days.
As part of the teacher pay award recent agreed with the Scottish Government two additional in-service days have been allocated for the session 2019/2020.
Midlothian Council have agreed that these will be on Tuesday 17th September 2019 and Tuesday 22nd October 2019.
These dates have been identified to secure a balance between the needs of schools who are keen they are early in the session to allow work to be done for the benefit of our students but are mindful of the impact of additional in-service days on parents and families.
Midlothian have added the dates onto existing holidays, namely the September weekend and the October half-term.
For working parents who do not have family or friends to look after children on these extra days then this will mean taking extra holiday or paying for additional child care.
