With this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe officially beginning in two days, this year is set to be one of the biggest festivals. With 3,356 shows (1,564 more than last year), across 265 venues, the capital will be in full Fringe fever as the city hosts the world’s largest performance arts festival.
The city’s performances are already beginning to ramp up quickly with 571 shows taking place today, 1,159 tomorrow, 1,860 on Friday and 2,091 on Saturday. This year’s festival will feature thousands of performances across hundreds of venues, including new venues introduced this year.
With the city welcoming a month of creative energy, shows will tackle a vast amount of topics, from a wide variety of different genre’s, all displaying the usual fun and powerful performances you expect from the Fringe.
Set to be an entertaining month in Edinburgh, the many new shows introduced have almost doubled the amount of performances from the 2024 festival. These shows will feature performers from 58 different countries, showcasing talent from across the globe.
Statistics from last year have shown that more than 2.6 million tickets were sold during the festival, and with this year featuring many more shows, this year’s number of ticket sales could easily grow.
Featuring the classic popular venues such as, Pleasance, Underbelly and Gilded Balloon, new venues such as, Portobello Town Hall and Easter Road Stadium have been added to the large roster of venues. Alongside returning favourites, many new shows have been introduced to the catalogue of performances.
