Eleven years ago when we launched our news website we called it Midlothian View for a reason, as it gives a View of what is happening but also because it gives anyone an opportunity to have their View.

At Midlothian View, we believe the strongest stories come from the people who live and work here. Our communities are full of insight, experience and opinion—and we want to hear yours.

We’re inviting readers to contribute short articles of up to 500 words expressing their View on an issue that matters to them. This could be something happening in your neighbourhood, a local success worth celebrating, a concern you’d like to raise, or a thoughtful perspective on life in Midlothian. You don’t need to be a professional writer—just clear, honest, and respectful. If it matters to you, chances are it will matter to others too.

If a full article feels like a step too far, you can also write a Letter to the Editor. Letters are a great way to respond to something you’ve read on our website, share a brief opinion, or highlight a local issue that deserves attention. Short, well-argued letters often spark valuable discussion and help shape the conversation across our communities.

By contributing, you’re helping Midlothian View remain a truly local news outlet — one that reflects real voices, real experiences and real debate. Healthy discussion strengthens our democracy and brings people together, even when we don’t all agree.

So if you’ve got something to say, we encourage you to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and share your view. We look forward to reading your thoughts and, hopefully, sharing them with our readers.

Because Midlothian View isn’t just about reporting on our communities—it’s about hearing from them too.
