Owen Thompson MP and colleagues at the Cross-Party WASPI Annual General Meeting on 11th May 2016 in the Palace of Westminster.

Owen Thompson, MP for Midlothian, has invited Midlothian women who are affected by the equalisation of the State Pension Age to meet with him to discuss their concerns and how MPs might best lobby the UK Government to bring in fairer transitional arrangements for women born in the 1950s.

Mr Thompson will be hosting this meeting on Monday 20 June from 2-3pm at the newly renovated Dalkeith Corn Exchange. Refreshments will be available.

Women affected by these changes who wish to attend this meeting should contact Mr Thompson’s office at owen.thompson.mp@parliament.uk or 0131 663 9675 to express their interest or see the Facebook meeting event page HERE.

If they cannot attend, they can also contact Mr Thompson with their own concerns and contact details to be kept informed of future developments.

Owen Thompson MP commented:

“It is clear that concerned MPs across all parties must continue to make the UK Government aware of the concerns of women in their constituencies. I feel it is important to speak face-to-face with the women who have been emailing me with their concerns, and to bring them together as well.”

“The campaign group Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) has been a fantastic resource for women affected by the changes, however there is currently no local WASPI group in Midlothian. I hope this meeting might lead to the formation of a Midlothian WASPI group, which can serve as a support network and will liaise with me over the issues I need to pursue along with my colleagues at Westminster.”
