There is still time to nominate amazing young people for Midlothian’s Young People Awards (MYPA) 2022.

These awards acknowledge the contribution of young people to their local communities. If you know a young person living, working or studying in Midlothian whose efforts deserve to be recognised, then nominate them!

Nominations are open in five categories which reflect the various positive contributions of young people to Midlothian:

– Caring and Volunteering
– Local Community
– Sport and Physical Activity
– Arts and Culture
– Achievement in Learning

There is also the Midlothian Prize for the best overall winner from the 5 categories.

Nominees should be aged between 8-26 years old at the time of their nomination.

One of the winners last year was Xander Graham who won the Sports & Physical Activity category.

He values his nomination which has spurred him on to further success and says:

“Being nominated by Midlothian residents for this award was very special to me as it showed my community supported me in my aspirations and all my achievements in cycling. Since winning the award I have also been nominated by pupils at my High School and won the 2022 Sports Personality of the Year award, I then went on to take bronze at the National mountain bike championships.”

Copies of the nomination forms are available in Midlothian schools, libraries and leisure centres.

For more information and to nominate online go to: www.midlothian.gov.uk/MYPA

Anyone wanting a paper form or having issues accessing the online form should email CLL@Midlothian.gov.uk

Nominations close on Friday 14 October.

Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at Rosslyn Chapel, hosted by Midlothian’s Lord-Lieutenant Lt Col Richard Callander.
