Review of GP Out of Hours Service

Monday January 26th 2015

Midlothian MSP Colin Beattie writes:

NHS Lothian is running a consultation on a review of its ‘GP Out of Hours’ Service. The review recommends some changes which affect Midlothian. These are:

  • Changing the mixture of doctors and nurses at the bases so that a Doctor is more available.
  • Changing the hours of opening at Midlothian Community Hospital to 6pm – 10pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 10pm Saturday and Sunday. Patients would be seen at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh when the centre is closed.
  • East and Midlothian having one car to cover home visits in the area, rather than one car each. This has already been tested and there has not been any impact on patient care but before any change it will continue to be looked at.

I would encourage all constituents to make their thoughts known to the consultation, which runs until the end of February. Please see the website HERE for more information.
