In the 3rd minute, Penicuik were awarded an indirect free kick inside the penalty box when keeper Watson picked up a pass back but the Armadale defensive wall stood firm and the danger was cleared. At the other end, a corner kick was spilled by Bejaoui but referee Strain adjudged the keeper to be fouled.

In the 17th minute, a long range effort by Ross went wide of the goal. Three minutes later, Feeney broke free one on one with Bejaoui. Feeney chipped the ball over the keeper but Ross was on hand to clear. Referee Strain awarded a penalty to Armadale and red carded Bejaoui. Feeney despatched the spot kick past substitute keeper Hill.

Minutes later, Mauchline came close with a strike that went narrowly over the crossbar. Then Hill did well to smother Hyslop’s low hard cross to the front post.

Penicuik weathered the initial pressure after going down to ten men and gradually fought their way back into the game, and in the 34th minute a Cunnison thirty yard strike beat Watson all ends up but crashed back off the crossbar.

Just before half time, Dalrymple came close with a shot that flashed past the post.

Half Time: Armadale 1 Penicuik 0

Four minutes into the half and Penicuik drew level. A Killin corner kick fell to White who slotted home from close range.

In the 57th minute, a quick turn and strike by McCallum went just wide of Watson’s right hand post. Two minutes later, Feeney broke free, but Hill rushed from goal to smother the ball at the striker’s feet. Then a quickly taken free kick by Armadale saw Brown get past three Penicuik defenders to set up Feeney, but he dragged his shot across the face of the goal, scraping the upright and away for a throw in.

At the other end a neat interchange between McCallum and McCulloch ended with McCallum’s shot being comfortably saved by Watson. In the 63rd minute a great run by McLeod saw his shot beaten away by Hill, but the ball fell to Dalrymple who had the simple task of tapping home from close range.

Five minutes later, Dalrymple came close with a shot that hit the side netting. Shortly afterwards, Penicuik went down to nine men when McCallum limped off injured after all three Penicuik substitutes had been used.

In the 78th minute, a mistake by keeper Hill gave the ball away to substitute Patrick, but his attempt on goal went well wide of the target – a real let off for Penicuik. Then two goals in a minute for Penicuik completely deflated the home side. The first came from a Cunnison free kick that was headed back across the box by Young. McCulloch chested the ball down to Ross who thumped it into the bottom corner of the net. Then, a mis-hit Cunnison shot was deflected to McCulloch who was lying on the ground but he managed to hook the ball home from close range.

Right on the 90th minute a chance to level the game came when a corner kick was headed by Mauchline, but Hill gathered at the second attempt.
