Lothians Veterans Centre Family Football Festival

Wednesday May 6th 2015

Lothian Veterans Centre

Lothians Veterans Centre (LVC), originally founded in July 2009, aims to support a person-centred approach to support ex-service personnel and their families across Edinburgh and the Lothians. We work in conjunction with existing veteran organisations, local and community organisations covering our pillars of Health & Wellbeing, Housing, Employment & Social Inclusion.

Our aim is to establish our first ever Armed Forces Day small sided football tournament, involving children from ages 8 through to 15 on 27th June 2015. This is a community focussed family day, where we also aim to create stronger links and awareness with the local community as well as to promote volunteer opportunities for LVC service users

The purpose of our family football festival is to raise the profile of the LVC within the local community and how we undertake our charitable activities within the community. It is also an opportunity to raise a little funds to support the work we undertake.

The main focus for the day will be a 5-a-side football tournament that will take place throughout the morning. This will be supplemented in the afternoon with an adult football match. Ancillary to the football, we believe there is significant potential to create a larger community/family event, where other fun facilities could be available, such as an inflatable bouncy castle, stalls, pipe band, children rides etc.

For more information on the day, or to register your team contact Steven on 07940 511610 or by email at steven.williams@lothiansveteranscentre.org.uk.
