Kings Park Flower Beds Grassed Over

Local residents have started to notice that the flower beds in King’s Park are being grassed over. At this time of the year the flower beds would normally be in full bloom and would be providing well liked colour in the park.

A Midlothian Council spokesperson told Midlothian View today that

“The council are reducing flower beds as a consequence of budget cuts. The most significant cost of the flower beds is the ongoing maintenance and so we will make savings in manpower by not taking on additional summer staff this year.

“However, we are looking at local community groups who have expressed an interest in maintaining the beds in future. In that case, we may see the beds reinstated.”
