Grandparents meet Nicola Sturgeon

A group of Midlothian grandparents and kinship carers were introduced to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon by local MSP Christine Grahame and Colin Beattie MSP last Thursday.

Grandparents Parenting Again and Kinship Carers (Midlothian) presented Ms Sturgeon with a copy of its book, “Through Our Eyes” which was launched in April. The book explains the transition from normal life to being a kinship carer.

The group visited Parliament and attended First Minister’s Questions prior to their meeting with Ms Sturgeon.

Ms Grahame said: “Grandparents Parenting Again and Kinship Carers offers peer support, guidance and a listening ear. It also has a Peer Support Service – this service offers guidance, information and representation. They do sterling work in Midlothian and I’d urge all kinship carers to contact them.”
