Grahame seeks improvements on Borders Railway

Thursday August 11th 2016

Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale MSP continues to press ScotRail to improve services on the Borders Railway following numerous complaints from constituents in recent weeks.

Ms Grahame holds regular meetings with Phil Verster, Managing Director of ScotRail Alliance and continues to raise the issues of cancellations and late arrivals..

She said:

“Mr Verster advised me that some of the delays were as a result of the installation of new equipment on the line and told me that regularity should improve soon. The running of special steam trains at weekends will also disrupt timetables but that is no excuse for regular travellers not being informed of changes well in advance so they can plan accordingly.

“I also know that there have been as many as 12 cancellations in one day, which simply isn’t good enough and I will continue to press ScotRail for improvements.”

Ms Grahame is a regular passenger on the line and understands that people will be frustrated when cancellations occur and asks that constituents contact her with any concerns and she will raise them at her next meeting.

She added:

“I am only too aware of the impact when trains are cancelled, delayed or even miss out stations.

“We all want this railway to succeed and this record does not help so I would urge people continue to get in touch if they have any matters they would wish me to raise with ScotRail.”
