Midlothian Walking Festival

Pull on your boots and slap on the sunscreen for the annual Midlothian Walking Festival 2016.

The FREE event takes place from Friday 12 August to Monday 15 August.

Experience Midlothian’s stunning countryside during four days of led walks, each with a local expert offering a fascinating insight into the local surroundings.

Councillor Derek Rosie, the cabinet member for commercial services, said: “This event has been going now for eight years and just gets better and better.

“Walkers will be treated to a unique experience as they are guided through Midlothian’s picturesque rural towns and scenic outdoor landscapes.

“You can find out more about anything from bats to herbal remedies on a couple of our works or why not enjoy a wildlife wander to the Penicuik Estate?”

Walks range from 2 to 12 miles so there is something for a range of walking abilities.

The Walking Festival flyer contains information of the 21 walks.

These are available now from libraries in the Lothians and at various tourist information centres and leisure centres within Midlothian. The programme can also be downloaded from the Midlothian Council Website at www.midlothian.gov.uk/walking-festival

Contact the Midlothian Ranger Service for more information or to make a booking on 01875 821716. Booking is essential for all events. All bookings must be confirmed by Friday 29 July.
