The Ministry of Defence has this afternoon announced the closure of 8 sites across Scotland, one of which is Glencorse in Penicuik. A total of 56 sites are due to close across the UK.
Michael Fallon, Defence Minister, made the announcement in Parliament this evening of the sites to close.
The sites in Scotland are:-
– Glencorse Barracks – estimated disposal 2032
– Redford Cavalry Barracks and Redford Infantry Barracks – estimated disposal 2022
– MOD Caledonia – estimated disposal 2022
– Craigiehall – estimated disposal 2018
– Condor Airfield, Arbroath – estimated disposal 2020
– Forthside Stirling – estimated disposal 2022
– Fort George – estimated disposal 2032
