Midlothian MP Owen Thompson has signed up to take part in a bungee jump off a Highland bridge in aid of charity with plans to video the experience live.

Mr Thompson admits to nerves ahead of the plunge later this month but says the cause is worth it.

The SNP politician is taking part in the 132ft drop from Garry Bridge at Killiecrankie in aid of HcL Transport, a charity dedicated to assisting people with disabilities and long-term conditions to maintain community connections.

He said: “So many people rely on HcL Transport’s services to stay connected and engaged so I was keen to do whatever I could to help.

“I’m thrilled to contribute to such a worthy cause.”

The jump is scheduled to take place on Saturday April 27th, with plans to share updates and the live footage on Mr Thompson’s social media.

He said: “I am so grateful to everyone who has donated and offered their support so far.

“It’s great to see so many people sharing in the excitement and showing their solidarity with the fundraising efforts.

“As the countdown to the jump begins, I have to confess that I have a few butterflies in my stomach now but I am undaunted.

“People can stay tuned for updates to my social media channels as I take the leap for a cause close to the heart of our community.”

HcL Transport is a registered charity, set up in 1982 as Handicabs (Lothian) Limited.

They provide supported accessible transport for people with mobility challenges in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
