Owen Thompson has written a personal letter to police, ambulance, fire service and military personnel as they gear up for the festive season.

He said people in the constituency should remember the work of blue light services and the military as we celebrate Christmas.

He said he penned the tribute not just as an MP “but as a fellow citizen deeply appreciative of the extraordinary efforts” that personnel demonstrate during the festive season.

He said: “As the year draws to a close, it is fitting to pause and reflect on the invaluable service you provide to us all especially during these challenging times.

“The festive period, while a time of joy and celebration for many, brings unique challenges that you face with unwavering dedication and professionalism.

“Your commitment to duty, often at the cost of personal sacrifices, does not go unnoticed.

“The long hours and arduous work, especially during a time when most are with their families, speaks volumes about your devotion to our community’s well-being.”

He thanked each service individually highlighting the specific challenges of each role.

He said: “To our police force, your role in maintaining law and order is utterly indispensable. You are the frontline guardians of our community, ensuring safety and security for all.

“Your vigilance and dedication, especially during a period that often sees a surge in activity, are crucial in providing a sense of security that allows our citizens to celebrate with peace of mind.

“To our ambulance and healthcare workers, you are the unsung heroes of our society. Your compassion and care in the face of emergencies are nothing short of heroic.

“The festive season often brings a spike in medical emergencies and your swift response and unwavering commitment to saving lives and alleviating pain are deeply respected and appreciated.

“To our fire service personnel, your bravery and swift action in the face of danger protect us from the perils that unfortunately do not take a holiday.

“Your readiness to respond at a moment’s notice, coupled with your commitment to public safety, ensures potential disasters are averted and lives are saved.

“And to our military personnel, though some of you might be stationed far from home, your sacrifice in ensuring our nation’s security is deeply felt this festive season.

“Your presence, whether near or far, provides a blanket of security under which we can safely enjoy our festivities.”

He added: “It is a rare individual who chooses a path of service especially one that involves such personal sacrifices.

“The dedication you show, the courage you embody, and the compassion you extend are the threads that bind the fabric of our society.”

He vowed to continue to make sure their voices were heard at Westminster.

He said: “On behalf of our community and the nation at large, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

“Your service is a beacon of hope and strength, a reminder of the resilience and unity that defines our nation.”
