One Dalkeith is set to open their new hub on Saturday, May 11th, as part of their grand opening. After undergoing refurbishment since April 2022, One Dalkeith are ready to welcome you to the hub. The hub includes a diverse use of space, including a 130-seater theatre, a kitchen that can be used for cookery classes, a DIY workshop, creative spaces that can be used by businesses and the public, as well as a café to spend some time catching up with a friend or finishing off some work.

Another element of the hub is the Corner Shop Collective. The shop is filled with the products of local artists, crafters, bakers and business owners. Making it a great place to support local businesses as well as a great shopping destination for buying gifts for others or yourself.

The grand opening on Saturday May 11th, will start at 10am with a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a warm welcome by the St David’s brass band. This will lead onto the AGM, which will showcase the refurbishment journey, using the new cinema screen.

After the AGM, a wide range of activities will be available whilst you explore the Hub. This includes IDEA-creative arts and crafts, Skills-DIY workshops, Taste-kitchen academy and Tech Club-coding club.

To make the day even more fun and interactive, there will be fundraising activities such as Wet Sponge Throwing Fundraiser, which our local councillor and MP; Colin Cassidy and Owen Thompson are taking part in. The money raised will allow for the hub to host a children’s Halloween party.

The café will also be open, giving you a chance to try award-winning cakes and pastries by Company Bakery, enjoy some hot soup and a cup of coffee. Furthermore, the Corner Shop Collective will have guest retailers, giving you a chance to try, ask questions and consider, before you purchase.

There is also many free activities, such as face painting and ice cream, as well as free fun games hosted by Play Midlothian.

Get to know your community more and enjoy a fun day out, this Saturday.
