Letter from the Chair of One Dalkeith
We are excited to share more information on the new plans for One Dalkeith’s Community and Business Hub and to announce that the AGM on the 28th of June will be held in person at the Hub with a guided tour of the refurbishment progress.
2021 saw restrictions lifted, and as the community and businesses opened up again, One Dalkeith Hub held its open day to welcome the public back into the building. The Hub also facilitated the staff and cast of The Lost King whilst filming in Dalkeith town centre and hosted the local music band Chameleon Lady to film their music videos in the Circle.
As an anchor organisation, One Dalkeith part-funded a project to aid the P7-S1 transition by helping young people gain a Forest and Outdoor Learning Award. This cohort was the youngest to earn this award in the world. One Dalkeith was pleased to act as an anchor organisation for this worthwhile initiative and delighted to work in partnership with Newbattle Abbey College, Big Wild Life and other local partnerships.
In 2021 One Dalkeith successfully gained funding to form and fit out a community cookery class kitchen and a community DIY workshop. A business manager was also employed with funding from the National Lottery to update its self-sustaining business plan for the Community and Business Hub.
The Business Plan and Refurbishment Project has now evolved to enhance the alignment of One Dalkeith’s aims which were developed from previous community conversation events – to improve the collective economic wellbeing of our community.
The Hub facilities will now include a community retail pop-up shop and a community co-working space. Both facilities will allow the growth of a supportive entrepreneurial community where community members’ network thrive together.

One Dalkeith’s AGM will be held on the 28th of June 2022 at 7pm with an opportunity to review the past year and for a guided tour of the refurbishment progress.
