The Scottish National Party has announced that it will stand eleven candidates in Midlothian ahead of the upcoming Council elections on May 5th – the only Party in Midlothian fielding enough candidates to run the Council with a majority.

The eleven Midlothian SNP candidates come from a wide range of backgrounds including former experienced Councillors, Community activists, Business Leaders and the legal profession.

SNP Candidate Colin Cassidy said:

“The SNP are the only party in Midlothian standing enough candidates to win control of Midlothian Council.”

“We have a positive message to take to voters right across Midlothian and we will be campaigning for every single vote.”

“With no other Party standing enough candidates to win overall control of the Council you have to wonder what backroom deals have already been done”

First time SNP Candidate Ann Montague added:

“Voters in Midlothian have had enough of not being listened to, and they’ve had enough of the mismanagement and catastrophic decisions we have seen from Labour and the Tories over the last five years.”

“A vote for the SNP in these elections is a vote for change. It’s a vote for better representation for Midlothian. It’s a vote for our communities to be heard, with an SNP led Council administration that stands ready for the challenge.”

“On May 5th Vote SNP 1 & 2 on your ballot paper.”

The Midlothian SNP candidates are:

Ward 1: Penicuik: Connor McManus & Debbi McCall

Ward 2: Bonnyrigg: Dianne Alexander.

Ward 3: Dalkeith: Karen Green & Colin Cassidy.

Ward 4: Midlothian West: Kelly Parry & Pat Kenny

Ward 5: Midlothian East: Anne Montague & Stuart Mckenzie.

Ward 6: Midlothian South: Ellen Scott & Douglas Bowen
