Southside School of Dance at the Dance Challenge UK finals in Blackpool.

This weekend Bonnyrigg based Southside School of Dance won the Dance Challenge UK finals in Blackpool.
There were over 1500 dancers at the event competing in a mixture styles from lyrical, commercial, jazz and tap.
Southside won in the following categories:
– ‘In the air’ – junior groups – 2nd place
– ‘Bird box’ – senior groups – 2nd place
– ‘Red Riding hood’ – open groups – 1st place
But then as the highest scoring school they were crowned the overall UK winner and received a cash prize of £1,000.
Louise Squires, the Principal of Southside School of Dance said:
“Winning individual categories would have been cause for celebration alone but to be named overall winner is just unbelievable!
“I am so unbelievably proud of the dancers, and their teacher Miss Sarah Anne Ballingall. They are so talented and it was just joyous to see their hard work and commitment rewarded this weekend.”
Lesley McLaren, a parent of one of the dancers, said
“We are ever so proud of the girls who have worked really hard to prepare for this competition. The teachers at Southside have been brilliant. Sarah’s choreography was incredible”
