Vogrie Golf Course – Use it or lose it

Thursday April 6th 2017

Vogrie Golf Course

Vogrie Golf Course is to remain open until June 2017. A decision will be made about the course’s future in June when a report will be submitted to Midlothian Council further to an ongoing review. The course is currently earmarked for closure to secure a £30,000. saving.

Suggestions have been made to reduce operating costs at the nine-hold course by staff and these are being implemented.

However, more golfers still need to use the course if it is to survive long term. If usage and income can be increased by 50% then the course could be retained. Charges, therefore, have been increased for some groups such as seniors.

The council are encouraging the public to use the course to keep it open – use it or lose it!

Prices are as follows:

Weekday Weekend
Adult £10.00 £11.00
Senior £6.50 £6.50
Concession £8.00 £8.00
Junior £3.50 £5.10

The nine-hole Vogrie Golf Course is certainly worth taking the time to play, particularly if you are quite new to the game.

A fun, laid-back test of golf, it is situated in the heart of the Vogrie Country Park and it is one of the many facilities, including adventure play area, barbecue sites and woodland paths, that can be enjoyed on a day out there.

Well-maintained and with a handful of particularly challenging holes, the course is ideal for those looking to get to grips with the basics of the game and is a superb place to hone your skills.

A round can be booked by phoning 01875 821 716 or emailing GolfAtVogrie@midlothian.gov.uk or just turn up and ‘pay and play’.
