Local people are taking part in the Kiltwalk on behalf of MYPAS.
Adults, young people, MYPAS Board and staff members are joining in the virtual Kiltwalk this year on 23rd-25th April. Participants can walk, run, cycle or even dance a distance and route of their choice over the weekend. Over 20 people so far have signed up under Team MYPAS to raise funds for the charity.
To encourage participants, MYPAS are offering free entry (via a code) and a free MYPAS t-shirt to those that undertake the challenge under the MYPAS banner. All funds raised are topped up by a further 50% by the Hunter Foundation. Every penny will go towards providing services for young people in Midlothian and East Lothian.
The current pandemic has put further pressure on the capacity of MYPAS to meet the overwhelming demand for its services. MYPAS provides mental health support, substance use support and support for LGBT+ young people. Many of these services have waiting lists and expect demand to not just remain, but to increase, over the coming months. The funds brought in through events like the Kiltwalk will help MYPAS to provide these much needed services.
Message from MYPAS team:
“The Kiltwalk is a unique Scottish charity event, which brings together walkers/runners/dancers of all ages and abilities for an unforgettable fun day.
“The current pandemic restrictions have meant that friends and family have been unable to get together so we hope that this will provide an opportunity for you to reconnect in a socially-distanced fashion. We know that this is going to be different from previous years, but we still need your support! It means so much to our young people to see people demonstrating their support by walking for MYPAS.
“All money raised is topped up by an extra 50% by the Hunter Foundation and helps MYPAS provide additional opportunities for our young people.
“We are overjoyed that people have already signed up to Kiltwalk for MYPAS. Our supporters so far include wonderful young people from our communities, GPs from Midlothian, East Lothian Council’s Education team, MYPAS staff and family as well as our Board members. Our littlest Kiltwalker is just over a year old!
This year MYPAS is offering free entry to the Kiltwalk as well as a free t-shirt for you to wear on the day. To get your free code please email firstname.lastname@example.orgTweet Share on Facebook
