Kelty vs Preston Cup Final

Kelty Hearts and Preston Athletic will be battling it out in the King Cup final on Saturday at King’s Park Dalkeith, kick off 2:30 pm.

It is sure to be a cracking game as Kelty Hearts, who have just gained promotion to the Lowland league, will be wanting to win the cup to add to their East of Scotland league championship. Likewise Preston Athletic, who finished third in the league will be looking for silverware.

It will be a homecoming for Preston manager Jack Lynch who used to coach at Dalkith Thistle.

The Thistle ground has under gone improvements recently as Dalkeith Thistle prepare for their entry into the East of Scotland league next season. Dalkeith are leaving the Junior league to join the Scottish FA league pyramid, as are 12 other clubs including Bonnyrigg Rose, Musselburgh Athletic, Dalkeith Thistle, Easthouses Lily, Tranent Juniors, Haddington Athletic, Blackburn United and Edinburgh United. Kelty Hearts themselves left the Junior league last year.

So the final is the first of many big games that will be coming to the King’s Park ground.
