Dalkeith Country Park has announced its new charity partnership with My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, a charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for motor neuron disease (MND) research. This collaboration marks the beginning of a two-year partnership and commitment to supporting this critical health research and making a positive impact for the MND community.

My Name’5 Doddie was founded by Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, who was diagnosed with MND in 2016. Since its inception, the Foundation has been tirelessly working to fund research projects aimed at finding a cure for this debilitating disease, as well as providing support to those affected by MND.

As part of this partnership, Dalkeith Country Park will have collection tins at all till points across Fort Douglas adventure playground and Restoration Yard‘s store and eateries. My Name’5 Doddie will also have a presence at many of The Park’s flagship events including the Inception Art Show at Dalkeith Palace, Restoration Yard’s seasonal fashion show’s and an exciting new family event for 2024, solely dedicated to raising funds for MND research.

These events will not only raise vital funds for motor neuron disease research, and those affected by MND, but also serve as opportunities to raise awareness about the importance of supporting individuals living with MND and their families.

“We are honoured to join forces with My Name’5 Doddie in the fight against motor neuron disease,” said Ross McGregor, Commercial Director at Dalkeith Country Park. “Doddie’s inspiring resilience and dedication to finding a cure serve as a beacon of hope for all those affected by MND. Through our partnership, we hope to make a meaningful contribution to advancing research efforts and improving the lives of individuals battling this disease.”

Paul Thompson, Director of Fundraising and Communication at My Name’5 Doddie Foundation said: “Thank you to Dalkeith Country Park for making My Name’5 Doddie Foundation their charity partner for the next two years. Finding effective treatments for MND is a team effort and partnerships like this play an important role in enabling the Foundation to invest in vital research. We’re excited to see how the partnership develops and for a busy calendar of events and activations together.”

Dalkeith Country Park encourages members of the community to get involved in supporting this important cause by participating in upcoming fundraising opportunities and spreading awareness about MND research.
